Eco Club
The Eco Club or Bounty Hunters was developed to encourage young people in Ballymun to recycle. The club was launched following the opening of the Shangan Recycling Centre in 2001.
Participants, on joining, receive a membership card and eco points for the amount of recycling they bring to the centre. They can then 'cash in' their eco points for a range of environmentally friendly prizes such as FairTrade chocolate, recycled stationary and gifts produced by cooperatives in the developing world.
Each week Sharon & Rachel from GAP run an Eco club in the recycling centres. After sorting their recyling members take part in a range of activities such as eco art projects and finding out more about waste, water, energy, shopping and transport. Trips are organised regularly to a number of environmentally themed destinations all over the country. Past trips include Sonairte, Knocksink Nature Reserve and Dublin Zoo.
If you think a child you know would be interested in the club contact Sharon or Rachel at the GAP office on 01 8625846.
