Many all-purpose cleaners can contain individual chemicals, or combinations, of chemicals that are known to be harmful to humans, wildlife and the environment.

A recent report by UK scientists confirmed the need for a fundamental reform of chemicals policy, with one of its authors stating: "Given our understanding of the way chemicals interact with the environment, you could say we are running a gigantic experiment with humans and all other living things as the subject."
