Moving home? Have a look at our ten environmental tips to make the whole moving process a more green one!
- Packaging: The recycling centres in Ballymun will take boxes that your new appliances come in. Unfortunately we cannot take styrofoam.
- Electrical Items: The WEEE directive allows you to bring like for like electrical items back to a shop to be recycled this includes small and large appliances.
- Recycling: Recycling is free, you will not have to pay a charge for your Green Wheelie Bin, so the more you use it the more you save. Threre are 2 local recycling centres in Ballymun where you can recycle glass & plastic that cannot be put in your green bin.
- Compost: If you are interested in composting GAP can help you get a compost bin and show you what to put in it.
- Use your garden: We all have different dreams of what kind of garden we would like – GAP gardeners can help you find out more about gardening and the kind of plants that would suit you.
- Save Energy: Moving to a new home can be costly, GAP is on hand to give you advise on how to save enery and money on your heating and electricity bills.
- Get to know your neighbours: GAP can help you apply for local environmental grants to carry out communal planting or youth activities in your new area.
- Organise an action team: If a few of you have some ideas for your new area but are not sure how to put them into action GAP organises action teams and will help you get your ideas up and running.
- Take part in the Welcome Programme.
