Eco Clubs are run each week for our local Bounty Hunters. Bounty Hunters (B.Hs) are children who bring recycling to the Recycing Centre. We decided to call them B.Hs as they are always on the hunt for useful waste from their families and friends.

When they bring their waste to the centre they are rewarded with Eco Points. With these eco points, they can buy prizes from our display cabinet, such as school stationary, sweets and chocolate, jewellery, footballs etc, all of which are either Fair-Trade or1_weeks_waste made from recycled materials.

All this was collected in one week with the help of our Bounty Hunters.

When the B.Hs bring their waste to the centre they seperate it into the appropriate bins, once this is done they come into the Eco Club. In the club we make lots of cool stuff from waste as you can see from the photo's below.  As well as making cool stuff we also run youth action teams where we find out about everything from saving water and electricity to shopping with the environment in mind.march_pics_003

Bounty Hunters also get to go on educational and fun trips throughout the year. Some visits so far include Sonairte Ecological Centre, other Oxigen's recycling centre, Newbridge farm and Glendalough.

For the older B.H we run a Future Leaders Mentoring Programme. This project provides an opportunity for young people, 12 and over, who would like to be a role model for younger children taking part in GAP's other activities. The participants receive training on leadership and help out with club activities. All those who successfully complete the programme receive a certificate and go on a special trip specifically for the Future Leaders.
